Introduction to Our Journey
Embarking on a full-time travel adventure to Mexico was a dream come true for my partner and me. We had always been fascinated by the vibrant culture, rich history, and breathtaking landscapes of this beautiful country. After years of planning and saving, we finally made the decision to leave our comfortable lives behind and set out on this new chapter of our lives.
Why Mexico?
Mexico held a special place in our hearts. Its diverse regions, from the bustling streets of Mexico City to the serene beaches of Cancun, offered an array of experiences we couldn’t resist. We were drawn to the country’s warm and welcoming people, its delicious cuisine, and the endless opportunities for adventure.
Preparation and Planning
Before we took the leap, we spent countless hours researching and planning. We learned about the best places to live, the cost of living, and the legalities of long-term travel. We also made sure to secure our finances, set up international health insurance, and packed our belongings carefully. The process was daunting, but it was worth every effort to ensure a smooth transition.
Setting Up Base in Mexico
We started our journey in Mexico City, a city that never fails to surprise us with its hidden gems. We quickly found an affordable and cozy apartment in a vibrant neighborhood, which became our home base. From there, we explored the city’s rich history, visited museums, and indulged in its world-renowned cuisine. We also made connections with other expats and travelers, which helped us navigate the local culture and find the best spots to enjoy Mexico’s beauty.
Exploring the Regions
Mexico is a country with so much to offer that we knew we had to venture beyond the capital. We traveled to the Yucatan Peninsula, where we were mesmerized by the ancient ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum, the stunning cenotes, and the laid-back atmosphere of Playa del Carmen. We also visited the Pacific Coast, where the surf culture and picturesque beaches were a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Challenges and Adaptation
Of course, life on the road isn’t without its challenges. We had to adapt to a new culture, learn Spanish, and deal with occasional loneliness. However, these experiences have only made our journey more rewarding. We’ve learned to embrace the unexpected, appreciate the little things, and cherish the moments of solitude that allow us to reflect on our journey.
The Future Awaits
As we continue our journey through Mexico, we look forward to discovering more of its wonders. Whether it’s exploring the deserts of the north, the colonial cities of the south, or the hidden gems along the coast, we are excited to see where our travels will take us next. Our full-time travel adventure to Mexico has been nothing short of magical, and we are grateful for every moment we’ve shared with this incredible country.
